There is something cheery about CHRISTMAS TIDINGS. I don’t know if
it’s the huge bright Santa Suit red eye or the large chartreuse green throat
that covers one third of the blossom. What makes this spatulate
unusual form so special is its pod fertility. Anyone doing spiders
(or any 8” flowers) knows that pod fertility is a precious quality. Strong
upright scapes present flat blooms to the viewer’s eye. A good parent
for bright red and black-eyed spiders and unusual forms with very green
throats, CHRISTMAS TIDINGS also passes along its pod fertility to its children
