*DAKAR (Stamile, P.) TET 6520-BB (Ebony
Jewel X Tetra Crayola Violet) 30” MRe. vfr. emo. Ev. 5 ¼” x 3 ¼”
x 2”. 4 way branching. 30 buds. How do you
make your tetraploid purples more sunfast? One way is to seek the most
sunfast purple you can find and cross it into the purples you grow.
CRAYOLA VIOLET was the most sunfast purple
I had so I chose to convert and use it with my purples and the result is
DAKAR. DAKAR inherits the heavy substance from
both parents. Superb form and excellent branching mark DAKAR.
The clear black violet color is set off by a brilliant grass green throat.
Since the sibs and half sibs from Tetra Crayola Violet had silver
(i.e. pale lavender) edges I chose to cross DAKAR into the edges to see
if it could recapture the dramatic silver edge on a dark flower.
The result was that DAKAR could give both silver and gold edges to the
dark flowers with heavy substance. The seedlings are truly stunning.
I also took DAKAR to other dark purples to seek the elusive true black
with a modern form. DAKAR has given me some of the prettiest blacks
which hold nicely in the sun. Great flower, great breeder and easily
fertile both ways...………$150.00
