*DANCING ON AIR
*DANCING ON AIR (Stamile, P.) TET 1100 (Waiting
In The Wings X Skinny Marink) 29” EERe. Ev. no fr. emo. 11” x 1 ¼”
x ¾”. 14 ½” wingspan. Crispate spider. Spider ratio 5.8:1.
6-way branching. 35-40 buds. Strong erect scapes. I occasionally get a
request for a shorter spider that could be used in edging a driveway or
in the front of a spider collection. Certainly DANCING ON AIR is one of
my shorter spiders and could fill this need. The effect of “dancing on
air” really describes the way I see all spider-type daylilies. The narrow
segments which flit and curl, dance and twist and gently sway to the wind
are what I enjoy about the spiders. DANCING ON AIR is our skinniest of
the fall collection and also one of our earliest blooming daylilies. It
consistently blooms at the end of the first week of April – a full 5 weeks
before peak bloom arrives in Florida. It is in bloom when the visitors
arrive but it is all rebloom that they are seeing. Basically DANCING ON
AIR is a deep ruby red with a citron green throat. All the segments curl
and twist which adds to the sense of movement. Wonderful flower presentation
and plant habit. Fertile both ways.
