x 2”. 4 way branching. 30-35 buds. I have bloomed thousands
of lavenders with gold edges over the past 8 years but all resembled others
already on the market. They were simply not distinctive. DEBUSSY
was remarkably distinctive by being much larger and flatter than most gold
edged lavenders. DEBUSSY is very vigorous with a smooth clear color
of a lavender-lilac blend, bright gold edge and citron green throat.
With its unique parentage of STARTLE (Belden red x Brother Charles)
and MAGIC AMETHYST (Druids Chant x Big Blue) DEBUSSY is a hybridizer’s
dream. A beautiful garden flower, clumps of DEBUSSY are reminiscent
of Claude Debussy’s La Mer and Claude Monet’s impressionistic paintings.
Always the frustrated painter, I struggle to create in living form a painting
and DEBUSSY helps to carry on the search. Parent of some of my best
purples and lavenders with gold edges, DEBUSSY is very easily fertile both
