Tumbleweed, Daylily
Treasure of Colors, Daylily

*Tumbleweed

*TUMBLEWEED  Pierce G.  563-A  ((Red eye/White Teeth Seedling x Spinefeld) x Matthew Weldon) EV, E, RE, 34” high, 6.75” flower, 6-way branching, 30-35 buds, Fragrant.  Ever bloomer .

If the first thing you think of here is “Oh My God” then I agree…  There is nothing average about this daylily, nor does it have bad hair days.  TUMBLEWEED is the garden name for 563 A, there were many lovelies from this cross, but in this one – It all came together.  A favorite of Karen and mine, and well -everyone.  Besides having all good traits, TUMBLEWEED is another daylily where even after setting seed, on the 3rd and 4th set of scapes and more, the plant does not shrink down.  It is very healthy and sports my typical low arching mound of foliage, with taller scapes.  Dark plum, black eye, rich in color, double edging of only teeth and tentacles, in both pure white and chartreuse lemon on both wide petals and sepals.  Opens like a champion, and as a breeder has MANY possibilities – Just think about it…  Extremely pod and pollen fertile.  TUMBLEWEED and her kids will take you far far away.  The picture can say the rest.  As I am keeping back 20 pots for continued breeding, she is LIMITED.     DF
