Dance Music, Daylily

*Dance Music

*DANCE MUSIC (Stamile, P.) TET 68-AA (Jane’s Prism X Tet Emerald Starburst) 27” EM Ev Re Fr. CMO. 7” 4-way branching. 16 buds.

The double AA in the seedling number means Dance Music bloomed as a nine-month seedling. In this climate 99% of the seedlings take 2 years to bloom so this is an anomaly.

Dance Music is unusual in other ways as well. Its color is a total departure from its siblings and other related crosses. The color is an orchid pink. What is strange is that the green white throat is so large on this huge flower that it pushes the orchid pink color out to the edges of the flower so that the flower presents as a picotee but only because of the throat. The sepals also present as green white with orchid pink tips.

Great plant habit with blooms presented nicely above the foliage. Despite the modest bud count Dance Music blooms over a long period due to its rebloom.

Easily fertile both ways, Dance Music makes big pods with big seeds. I am taking this color pattern to reds, purples and lavenders. I love big flat early opening flowers and Dance Music delivers.
